FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions buyers ask most often — products, grades, certifications, ordering, and logistics.
Products
What products does TQ Industry Starch offer?
We manufacture one product, done well: native tapioca (cassava) starch. It is offered in food grade (SO₂ ≤ 10 ppm or ≤ 30 ppm) and industrial grade (SO₂ ≤ 100 ppm), packed in 30 kg bags or 500 / 850 kg jumbo bags (FIBC). We do not produce modified starches.
What is the difference between native and modified tapioca starch?
Native tapioca starch is extracted from cassava roots without chemical modification, keeping its natural properties. Modified starch is chemically or physically altered for functions such as heat or acid stability. TQ Industry Starch currently produces native tapioca starch only.
What industries and applications is your tapioca starch used in?
Food manufacturers use our food-grade starch in noodles, sauces, snacks, bakery, and thickening systems. Industrial-grade starch serves paper (surface sizing and coating), textiles (warp sizing), adhesives (plywood, corrugated board), and other industrial uses.
Is tapioca starch the same as cassava starch?
Yes. Tapioca starch and cassava starch are two names for the same product: starch extracted from the cassava root (Manihot esculenta). "Tapioca starch" is the more common trade name in Asia, while "cassava starch" is widely used in Africa and the Americas. In Thai it is called แป้งมันสำปะหลัง. TQ Industry Starch manufactures native (unmodified) tapioca starch in Sa Kaeo, Thailand.
What is the difference between tapioca starch and tapioca flour?
In most B2B trade they refer to the same product — refined starch extracted from cassava roots — and the names are used interchangeably. Note that tapioca starch/flour is pure starch and is different from "cassava flour", which is made by grinding the whole dried root and retains fibre. TQ Industry Starch supplies refined native tapioca starch in food and industrial grades.
What is native tapioca starch?
Native tapioca starch is starch extracted from fresh cassava roots by washing, rasping, separating, and drying — with no chemical modification. It is naturally gluten-free, neutral in taste, high in paste viscosity and clarity, and is used in noodles, snacks, bakery, sauces, paper, textiles, and adhesives. TQ Industry Starch produces native tapioca starch only, under an FSSC 22000-certified food safety system.

What are the typical specifications of your native tapioca starch?
